With the collaboration of our Mozilla Bangladesh community, Mozilla Foundation decide to put a stall at Digital World 2014. Hopefully I was present at this booth all the four days as a volunteer. So I decide to write my experience about this booth, about the four days of awesomeness.
One Day Before Event (03-06-2014):
It was the booth setup and decoration day. Some of our fellow Mozillian helped to setup our Mozilla Foundation Booth. They worked really hard on that day.
At this morning there was an opening ceremony. Honorable Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina was the chief guest and she opened the four-day extravaganza at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC).
After the opening ceremony we opened our stall for public. And the rush begin. People stumbling upon our stall like a procession.
They were very much interested about Mozilla, Firefox and FirefoxOS. Me and my fellow mozillians started to describe about Mozilla to people. Mainly we focused on Firefox OS. We also showed FirefoxOS on some demo device and described about it to them.
Most of the people want to contact with us and keep in touch further. So, we keep their feedback on a Google form.
The fair closed at 8 pm. And after closing we Mozillians take our group picture for first day.
On second day the fair started at 2:00 pm. We setup our booth and started to talk with people again. We talk to people till 8:00 pm but Mozillian’s never look tired or frazzle. Here are some photos from day 2.
Our booth was always over crowded with people. And we enjoyed it.
We also found many women who are interested to join in WoMoz.
And at last we took our group picture.
On third day fair started at 10:00 am. It was Friday. The weekend for Bangladesh. So we expected too many people on that day. And it happens. Our Mozilla Foundation booth was over crowded.
Some people told us their experience about Firefox browser. And some wanted to know where they can get support about mozilla product, so we redirected them to Mozilla Support (SuMo). We also talk about Mozilla Developer Network (MDN), Webmaker, Appmaker, WoMoz, Firefox Student Ambassador etc.
On the other side of our booth there was a place name ‘Developer’s Corner’. It’s for them those were interested to develop apps for Firefox OS, wanted to contribute on Firefox code base or others developer things.
And Most importantly kids were very much interested about our booth, about Firefox OS games, about webmaker. We gave them different kind of Mozilla swag.
And finally we took our 3rd day group photo in front of the venue.
It was the last day of the exhibition. We got a huge response from people on this day also.
And finally we close our booth at 8 on the evening and take our group photo for the last day at Digital World 2014.
During this four day we meet different kind of people, we learn about their thought about Mozilla and we also talk to them about different Mozilla product. Most of them were interested to join with Mozilla. After the event we contacted with them. And now they are contributing to several Mozilla pathways.
And what about me?
I promise to stay forever with Mozilla and Open Web.
